Lately our home, world, and surroundings have changed significantly. As I mentioned in my last article, A New Life, the corona virus has taken over pretty much everywhere. We are quarantined. You go to work with your face covered with cloth, or you stay home and work on a screen. Or you simply don’t have a job.
Many children are learning online. Which means a whole family could be together for over 24 hours strait. Children can’t see their friends, either, so that means a house full of unhappy people. It takes a bit of work to not take it out on the ones you love most.
What do you do in your free time? My guess is that you are either on social media, or watching the news. You may also be doing other things.
If you are watching the news, you have to be careful. I’m not saying that the news stations lie. I’m telling you that sometimes they only tell part of the truth. According to a study that was referenced in a documentary called “The Social Dilemma” by Jeff Orlowsk, Davis Coombe, Vickie Curtis, and many more, says that fake new spreads 6 times faster than real news. You can watch the documentary on Netflix.
Assuming that you are using social media, notice this: there are adds. These adds probably include things that you like, for example your “side” on politics, or some doll collection your daughter said she wanted. Also pay attention to the things that people type on texts, messenger, or Facebook. There is an old saying, “Anyone can be a brave warrior from 100 miles away.” So reflect on what actions you take when you are on a screen. Are you braver? Are you more nervous that if you say something that others think is wrong, and then someone will point out all the ways they are right and shoot you down? Take all of these things into account when you take action. Remember: The less you know, the more you think you are right and the other side is wrong.
You may be wondering what the word “clarity” means, if I choose it for the title of my article. It means the clear quality or state. That you are able to reflect on your life with ease. That you can see your reflection in the daunting waters of life.
